Navi UPI Unveils Biometric-Based Payments for iOS, Android at Global Fintech Festival 2025

 Navi UPI, which made its debut in India back in August 2023, has just introduced two exciting new features: biometric authentication and a more straightforward onboarding process for users. This fresh functionality was unveiled at the Global Fintech Festival 2025 on Tuesday. With this latest update, Navi UPI allows users to verify transactions using their phone's fingerprint or facial recognition, eliminating the hassle of entering a PIN. The company proudly claims that Navi UPI is the first UPI platform in India to roll out biometric-based payments on such a large scale, all in an effort to make transactions smoother and enhance user convenience.

Navi UPI Introduces Biometric Payments at Global Fintech Festival 2025

Support for biometric authentication and a simpler signup process for users in India were the most noteworthy announcements made by the company on Tuesday. These biometric-authenticated payments will be available to all users of the app, not just a limited test group, according to the company.

Biometric authentication on the Navi UPI app lets users authenticate transactions using biometric authentication, which means they can use their fingerprint or facial recognition to make a purchase. 

Unlike the usual UPI transactions that make you enter a PIN for every single payment, the Navi App has introduced a cool new feature that allows users to authorize transactions right through their device's built-in biometric sensors.

Navi UPI's biometric authentication is designed to use secure, OS-native technology. This means that the authentication happens within the phone's secure environment, ensuring that your personal data stays safe on your device.

The company has announced that this new feature aims to cut down on failed transactions, streamline the payment process, and offer extra protection against phishing and social engineering, as stated in their press release. They also mentioned that all Navi UPI users can choose to turn biometric authentication on or off whenever they like within the app.

Additionally, the Navi UPI app has rolled out a more straightforward onboarding process for new UPI accounts, which means fewer steps and better auto-verification. This update is designed to help new users set up their accounts and start making transactions more quickly.
